Whitbread PLC31 August 2007 Whitbread PLC Purchase of Own Shares Whitbread PLC announces that on 31 August 2007 it purchased 150,000 of its 76122/153p ordinary shares at a price of 1638.17p. Whitbread PLC purchased theseshares via Hoare Govett Limited's affiliate, ABN AMRO Bank N.V., London Branch. The shares purchased will be held as treasury shares. Following the abovepurchase, Whitbread PLC holds 1,831,816 shares in treasury. The total number of ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares) is196,477,682.
