Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 29 May 2008 it purchased 400,000 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 250.875 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 243.00 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 447,745 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 246.7135 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
