Transaction in own shares

Yesterday the Company purchased 905,000 of its own ordinary shares of no par value at prices between 280.40 pence per share and 292.50 pence per share, all of which ordinary shares are to be cancelled. This represents approximately 0.062 per cent of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.

Following the repurchase and cancellation, 1,451,270,332 ordinary shares of no par value will be in issue. There are no ordinary shares held in treasury.
