Alternative Networks Plc ("Alternative Networks" or the "Company")

Purchase of Own Shares

Pursuant to the closed period share repurchase programme announced on 2 October 2008, the Company announces that it purchased 145,000 of its own ordinary shares for cancellation on 17 October 2008 at a price of 135 pence per share.

For confirmation the Company's issued share capital is now 45,673,355 ordinary shares of 0.125p each. Alternative Networks holds 1,000,000 ordinary shares in Treasury.
