Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 29 August 2008 it purchased 429,564 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 225.00 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 219.00 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 480,838 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 221.614 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
