TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 7 March 2012 it purchased from J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. 105,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 943.5485 pence per share. The highest price paid was 951.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 928.5 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 6,275,603 ordinary shares in treasury and has 529,142,358 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
