TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 24 October 2011 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 111,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 909.0864 pence per share. The highest price paid was 932.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 881.5 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 1,436,976 ordinary shares in treasury and has 533,803,362 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
