10 December, 2010 Daily Mail and General Trust plc (`DMGT') Transaction in Own Shares

DMGT announces that it has today acquired 400,000 'A' Ordinary Non Voting shares at a price of £5.397037 per share in order to match recent share option grants. The shares acquired will be held in Treasury.

Following the purchase, the total number of 'A' Ordinary Non Voting Shares held in treasury is 9,977,814 and the total number of 'A' Ordinary Non Voting Shares in issue after deducting shares held in treasury is 362,766,834.
