Anglo American PLC29 August 2007 Anglo American PLC (the "Company")Registered office: 20 Carlton House Terrace, London, SW1Y 5ANRegistered number: 3564138 Purchases of Ordinary Shares in the Company - Correction to announcementreleased at 12.33 today under RNS no. 9383C The Company announces that on 27 August 2007, an independent company purchased131,720 ordinary shares of the Company at prices between £27.90 and £28.34 pershare, and not 610,076 ordinary shares as previously announced today. Thispurchase was made by an independent company to be funded by a wholly ownedoverseas subsidiary of the Company, which wholly owned subsidiary will have theright to nominate a transferee for such shares, and otherwise in accordance witharrangements substantially the same as those announced by the Company on 23March 2006. Anglo American plc currently holds 17,081,518 ordinary shares in treasury, andhas 1,325,828,740 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares) and theindependent companies referred to in the announcement of 23 March 2006 togetherhold 83,678,034 ordinary shares, representing 6.31 per cent of Anglo Americanplc's ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
