TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 14 March 2012 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 209,900 ordinary shares at an average price of 956.2164 pence per share. The highest price paid was 988.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 943.5 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 6,892,503 ordinary shares in treasury and has 528,525,458 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
