Transaction in own shares

On 21 June 2011, the Company purchased 602,876 of its own ordinary shares of no par value at prices between 298.5 pence per share and 302.2 pence per share, all of which ordinary shares are to be cancelled. This represents approximately 0.041 per cent of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.

Following the repurchase and cancellation, 1,459,766,077 ordinary shares of no par value will be in issue. There are no ordinary shares held in treasury.
