Transaction in own shares

Yesterday the Company purchased 832,451 of its own ordinary shares of no par value at prices between 250.9 pence per share and 260.5 pence per share, all of which ordinary shares are to be cancelled. This represents approximately 0.058 per cent of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.

Following the repurchase and cancellation, 1,419,290,831 ordinary shares of no par value will be in issue. There are no ordinary shares held in treasury.
