Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 18 September 2008 it purchased 1.430.268 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 259.75 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 244.75 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 1.600.988 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 252.734 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
