Transaction in own shares

Yesterday the Company purchased 1,120,247 of its own ordinary shares of no par value at prices between 254.4 pence per share and 261.3 pence per share, all of which ordinary shares are to be cancelled. This represents approximately 0.078 per cent of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.

Following the repurchase and cancellation, 1,423,694,872 ordinary shares of no par value will be in issue. There are no ordinary shares held in treasury.
