TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 26 March 2012 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 108,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 930.5162 pence per share. The highest price paid was 942.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 915.0 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 7,732,503 ordinary shares in treasury and has 527,685,458 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
