HALFORDS GROUP PLC: PURCHASE OF OWN SHARES

Halfords Group PLC announces that on 19 August 2011 it purchased, through Investec Bank plc, 100,000 of its ordinary shares for transfer into treasury at a price of 284.8 pence per share. The highest price paid was 287.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 281.0 pence per share.

The shares held in treasury will be used to meet options under the Company's share options schemes between 2011 and 2014. Following the above purchase, the Company now holds 629,712 shares in treasury. Since 7 April 2011 when the buy back programme commenced the Company has bought back 6,816,296 shares for cancellation and 4,580,000 for transfer into treasury.
