22 January, 2008 Daily Mail and General Trust plc (`DMGT') Transaction in Own Shares

DMGT announces that on 22 January it acquired 375,000 'A' Ordinary Non Voting shares at a price of ‚£4.645594 per share. The shares acquired will be held in Treasury.

Following the purchase, the total number of 'A' Ordinary Non Voting Shares held in treasury is 17,236,982 and the total number of 'A' Ordinary Non Voting Shares in issue after deducting shares held in treasury is 355,459,666.
