Spectris PLC20 July 2007 Spectris plc: Transaction in own shares Spectris plc announces that on 20 July 2007 it purchased 70,000 of its 5pordinary shares at a volume weighted average price paid per share of 890.94p.Spectris plc purchased these shares via Hoare Govett Limited's affiliate, ABNAMRO Bank N.V., London Branch. The highest price paid per share was 895p, and the lowest price paid was 888p. Spectris plc has purchased, to date, 4,210,000 of its own shares sinceannouncing a share buy-back in its 23 February 2007 preliminary resultsannouncement. The shares purchased are held as treasury shares. Following theabove purchase, Spectris plc holds 3,812,601 shares in treasury. The balance ofthe purchased shares has been used to satisfy share option exercises underSpectris plc's share option schemes.
