Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 6 January 2012 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 102,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 989.7974 pence per share. The highest price paid was 1,000.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 960.0 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 5,814,600 ordinary shares in treasury and has 529,603,361 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
