Transaction in own shares

Yesterday the Company purchased 380,000 of its own ordinary shares of no par value at prices between 291.50 pence per share and 298.90 pence per share, all of which ordinary shares are to be cancelled. This represents approximately 0.026 per cent of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.

Following the repurchase and cancellation, 1,453,565,332 ordinary shares of no par value will be in issue. There are no ordinary shares held in treasury.
