Mitchells & Butlers PLC07 January 2005 7 January 2005 Mitchells & Butlers plc Purchase of Own Securities Mitchells & Butlers plc announces that on 7 January 2005 it purchased 300,000 ofits ordinary shares at a price of 332.3917 pence per ordinary share. 150,000 ofthese shares will be held as treasury shares and 150,000 shares will becancelled. The total number of Mitchells & Butlers shares in issue (after cancellation of150,000 shares and excluding treasury shares) is 522,312,163. Following theabove purchase, Mitchells & Butlers plc holds 886,877 ordinary shares astreasury shares. It is intended that the shares held as treasury shares will be used to meetobligations of Mitchells & Butlers under employee share option schemes.
