AMEC PLC04 January 2008 4 January 2008 AMEC plc Share purchases to satisfy share plan awards AMEC plc announces that on 3 January 2008, it purchased 100,000 of its ordinary shares of 50p each at 828.865 pence per share through Dresdner Kleinwort. All of these shares will be held as Treasury shares and are being purchased specifically to satisfy 2007 awards under the UK and International SAYE schemes previously approved by shareholders. The SAYE schemes have the flexibility to use treasury shares "in stock" or bought in for the purpose to satisfy options. This purchase equates to approximately 0.03 per cent of AMEC's current issued share capital excluding Treasury shares prior to this purchase. AMEC's total issued share capital is 337,478,051 shares. Following the purchase of these shares, AMEC plc holds 4,368,800 of its shares in Treasury and has 333,109,251 ordinary shares in issue excluding Treasury shares.
