M&G High Income Investment Trust P.L.C. (M&G HIT) announces that on 12 December 2008 it purchased and cancelled 600,000 M&G HIT Package Units at a price of 99p per Package Unit. This represents 0.44%of M&G HIT's issued share capital.

To date, a total of 1,200,000 Package Units have been purchased and cancelled by M&G HIT resulting in a current issued share capital of 136,227,539 Zero Dividend Preference Shares 136,227,539 Income Shares and 136,227,539 Capital Shares.
