Transaction in own shares

On 26 August the Company purchased 485,213 of its own ordinary shares of no par value at prices between 246.9 pence per share and 253.3 pence per share, all of which ordinary shares are to be cancelled. This represents approximately 0.034 per cent of the Company's issued ordinary share capital.

Following the repurchase and cancellation, 1,423,209,659 ordinary shares of no par value will be in issue. There are no ordinary shares held in treasury.
