Ashtead Group plc (the "Company") announces that it has purchased, in accordance with the authority granted by shareholders at the Company's Annual General Meeting on 2 September 2015, the following number of its ordinary shares of 10 pence each ("Shares") as part of the buyback programme initially announced on 14 June 2016:

Number of Shares purchased: 27,383 Shares

Highest price paid per Share: 1100.0 pence

Lowest price paid per Share: 1098.0 pence

Average price paid per Share: 1099.0689 pence

The Company intends to hold these Shares in Treasury.

Including Shares which have been purchased but not yet settled, the Company holds 51,588,643 Shares in Treasury.

The Company has 501,736,911 Shares in issue (excluding Shares held in Treasury). This number represents the total voting rights in the Company and may be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by which they can determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or a change to their interest in the Company under the Financial Conduct Authority's Disclosure and Transparency Rules.
