TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 19 April 2012 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 172,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 872.6500 pence per share. The highest price paid was 879.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 866.0 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 9,870,803 ordinary shares in treasury and has 525,547,158 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
