Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 22 December 2011 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 87,607 ordinary shares at an average price of 905.9942 pence per share. The highest price paid was 910.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 893.0 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 5,559,710 ordinary shares in treasury and has 529,858,251 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
