Transaction in Own Shares 

Candover announces that on 1 December 2008 it purchased 4,000 of its Ordinary Shares through Merrill Lynch International at an average price of 805.2 pence per Ordinary Share.

The purchased Ordinary Shares will be held in treasury. 

Following the above purchase, Candover will hold 53,590 Ordinary Shares in treasury and the total number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Ordinary Shares to be held in treasury) will be 21,803,025.
