Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 15 September 2008 it purchased 421,671 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 249.75 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 243.50 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 472.002 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 247.027 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
