Spectris PLC03 October 2007 3 October 2007 Spectris plc: Transaction in own shares Spectris plc announces that on 3 October 2007 it purchased 30,000 of its 5pordinary shares at a volume weighted average price paid per share 897p. Spectrisplc purchased these shares via Merrill Lynch International. The highest price paid per share was 898p, and the lowest price paid was 895p. Spectris plc has purchased, to date, 6,640,000 of its own shares sinceannouncing a share buy-back in its 23 February 2007 preliminary resultsannouncement. The shares purchased are held as treasury shares. Following theabove purchase, Spectris plc holds 6,236,845 shares in treasury. The balance ofthe purchased shares has been used to satisfy share option exercises underSpectris plc's share option schemes.
