Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 9 October 2008 it purchased 334,696 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 200 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 185.3 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 374,646 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 193.9893 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
