Transaction in Own Shares
On 21 February 2012, AMEC plc ("the Company") announced that it intended to complete a £400 million share buyback programme within the next twelve months.
Today the Company announces that it has purchased 275,000 of its ordinary shares of 50p each at 1069.46 pence per share through Deutsche Bank AG, all of which are to be cancelled. This purchase equates to approximately 0.09 per cent of AMEC's current issued share capital excluding Treasury shares prior to this purchase.
The highest purchase price paid was 1089.00 pence per share and the lowest purchase price paid was 1056.00 pence per share.
Following this change AMEC's total issued share capital is 313,747,449 ordinary shares, of which 7,342,237 are registered as Treasury Shares, leaving a balance of 306,405,212 shares with voting rights.
Cumulative purchases to date under the buyback programme amount to approximately £297.56 million.
Going forward, it is the Company's intention that the significant majority of the shares purchased under this programme will be cancelled.
