Transaction in own shares

TOTAL S.A. (the "Company") announces that on July 30, 2012, pursuant to the share buyback programme announced on May 11, 2012, the Company purchased 600,000 of its Ordinary Shares at a weighted average price of 37.493 euros per share to be held in treasury. The highest price was 37.925 euros and the lowest price was 37.19 euros.

On July 31, 2012, the Company purchased 640,000 of its Ordinary Shares at a price of 37.839 euros per share to be held in treasury. The highest price was 38.00 euros and the lowest price was 37.535 euros.

Following these transactions, the Company has a total of 2,365,134,263 Ordinary Shares in issue, of which 110,783,878 are held as treasury shares (held either directly or through its indirect subsidiaries).
