TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 30 September 2011 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 124,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 806.7615 pence per share. The highest price paid was 841.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 788.5 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 460,500 ordinary shares in treasury and has 534,779,838 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
