TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 27 April 2012 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 110,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 878.8802 pence per share. The highest price paid was 890.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 850.0 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 10,838,830 ordinary shares in treasury and has 524,579,131 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
