The highest price paid was 1332 pence per share and the lowest price paidwas 1318 pence per share. Following the above purchase the total number of ordinary shares in issue(excluding shares held in treasury) is 296,427,916. Of these 6,055,851 sharesare held by Employee Trusts and are discounted for earnings per sharecalculation purposes. In addition to the above 25,000,000 ordinary shares are held as treasury sharesand are also discounted for earnings per share calculation purposes.
