Smith & Nephew Plc13 August 2007 Smith & Nephew PLC 13 August 2007 Smith & Nephew PLC - Transaction in Own Shares Smith & Nephew PLC announces that on 13 August 2007 it transferred 55,000ordinary shares of US$0.20 to Abacus Corporate Trustee Limited, the Trustee ofthe Employees' Share Trust. The shares will be used to satisfy awards under the1997 Long Term Incentive Plan. The transferred shares were all formerly held as Treasury Shares. Following the above transfer, Smith & Nephew PLC holds 31,103,000ordinary shares in treasury, and has 915,249,749 ordinary shares in issue(excluding treasury shares).
