Spectris PLC04 February 2008 Spectris plc: Transaction in own shares Pursuant to the regulatory announcement made by Spectris plc on 30 November 2007that it intends to undertake additional share repurchases under its sharebuy-back programme, Spectris plc announces that, on 4 February 2008, itpurchased 15,000 of its 5p ordinary shares at a volume weighted average pricepaid per share of 707.58p. Spectris plc purchased these shares via Hoare GovettLimited's affiliate, ABN AMRO Bank N.V., London Branch. The highest price paid per share was 710p, and the lowest price paid was 705.5p. Spectris plc has purchased, to date, 9,894,500 of its own shares since making aninitial announcement concerning the buyback on 23 February 2007. The sharespurchased are held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Spectrisplc holds 9,294,173 shares in treasury. The balance of the purchased shares hasbeen used to satisfy share option exercises under Spectris plc's share optionschemes.
