Transaction in own shares

Thomas Cook Group plc announces that on 22 September 2008 it purchased 550,000 ordinary shares for cancellation. The highest price paid per share was 261.5 pence (excluding expenses) and the lowest price paid was 246.125 pence (excluding expenses).

As a result of these purchases Thomas Cook Group plc will purchase 615.649 ordinary shares in aggregate from Arcandor AG and KarstadtQuelle Freizeit GmbH at a price of 252.9846 pence per share, which is the average price paid for the shares reported above.
