RE-ISSUE OF TREASURY SHARES 

CRH plc announces that on 26th August 2009 it transferred to participants in its employee share schemes 259,846 Ordinary Shares at prices between €11.8573 and €16.4830 and at prices between £8.1694 and £14.1386 per Ordinary Share.

Following the above transactions, CRH plc holds 14,519,771 Ordinary Shares in Treasury. The number of Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding Treasury Shares) is 692,658,669 .
