Transaction in Own Shares

In accordance with LR12.6.4 SABMiller plc ("the Company") announces that on 15 February 2010 it transferred 5,300,000 ordinary shares of US$0.10 to the SABMiller plc Employee Benefit Trust at nil cost. These shares were previously held in treasury and will be used to satisfy awards outstanding under the Company's share incentive plans.

Subsequent to the transfer, the Company holds a total of 72,068,338 shares in treasury. The total number of ordinary shares in issue (excluding shares held in treasury) is 1,580,817,007.
