TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 10 May 2012 it purchased from J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. 128,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 780.9572 pence per share. The highest price paid was 795.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 768.0 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 11,701,830 ordinary shares in treasury and has 523,716,131 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
