TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 26 April 2012 it purchased from J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. 171,500 ordinary shares at an average price of 871.3592 pence per share. The highest price paid was 887.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 860.5 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 10,728,830 ordinary shares in treasury and has 524,689,131 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
