Transfer of Treasury Shares

Spectris plc announces that on 8 August 2007, the following ordinary shares have been transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share scheme allotments:

1,125 shares at 408 pence per share

513 shares at 589 pence per share

141 shares at 618 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares in issue (excluding the total of 4,485,732 ordinary shares now held in treasury) is 120,519,391.
