Character Group PLC14 January 2008 14 January 2008 The Character Group plc (the 'Group' or 'Company') Transaction in Own Shares The directors of The Character Group plc announce that, as part of the Group'spolicy of buying back Group shares, a further 203,092 shares have been purchasedon 11 January 2008 in the market through Charles Stanley Securities fortreasury. 100,000 shares were purchased at a price of 89.92 pence per share and103,092 shares were purchased at a price of 89.94 pence per share. The 203,092shares represent approximately 0.47% of the issued share capital of the Company(excluding shares held in treasury). Following these transactions, the Company has 43,065,988 ordinary shares inissue (excluding 2,425,949 ordinary shares in the Company held in treasury).
