Character Group PLC09 January 2008 9 January 2008 The Character Group plc (the 'Group' or 'Company') Transaction in Own Shares As part of the Group's stated objective to enhance shareholder value, theCompany advises that it has yesterday purchased in the market through CharlesStanley Securities 65,037 ordinary shares in the Company at a price of 79.69pence per share. This represents approximately 0.15% of the issued sharecapital of the Company (excluding shares held in treasury). These shares will beheld in treasury. Following these transactions, the Company has 43,391,645 ordinary shares inissue (excluding 2,100,292 ordinary shares in the Company held in Treasury). The Directors will continue to monitor the position and will, if appropriate,make further purchases of the Company's own shares.
