The number of shares that the Ashtead Group PLC has in issue (excluding Treasuryshares) should have read 559,494,926 and not 557,844,926 as previously stated. All other details remain unchanged. Ashtead Group PLC (the "Company") announces that on 14 December 2007 itpurchased through ABN AMRO Hoare Govett 350,000 ordinary shares at an averageprice of 78.76 pence per share. The Company intends to hold these shares in Treasury. Following the purchase of these shares, the Company holds 2,000,000 of itsshares in Treasury and has 559,494,926 shares in issue (excluding Treasuryshares). This number (559,494,926) represents the total voting rights in the Company andmay be used by shareholders as the denominator for the calculations by whichthey will determine if they are required to notify their interest in, or achange to their interest in, Ashtead Group PLC under the FSA's Disclosure andTransparency Rules.
