TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 13 March 2012 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 103,000 ordinary shares at an average price of 976.4304 pence per share. The highest price paid was 987.0 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 956.5 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 6,682,603 ordinary shares in treasury and has 528,735,358 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
