The highest price paid was 612.50 pence per share and the lowest price paid was605.50 pence per share. Following the above purchase the total number of ordinary shares in issue andthe total voting rights in the Company (excluding shares held in treasury) is516,267,054. Of these 10,774,227 shares are held by Employee Trusts and arediscounted for earnings per share calculation purposes. In addition to the above 50,000,000 ordinary shares are held as treasury sharesand are also discounted for earnings per share calculation purposes.
