TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 28 September 2011 it purchased from Citigroup Global Markets U.K. Equity Limited 117,500 ordinary shares at an average price of 851.4643 pence per share. The highest price paid was 867.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 833.0 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 217,500 ordinary shares in treasury and has 535,022,838 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
